Carole trained at the School of Herbal Medicine (Phytotherapy) in the United Kingdom and has over 17 years of experience in the health industry. In addition to this, she also has a degree in Biochemistry, a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health (through Otago University) and has worked in the field of medical research.
Carole uses a scientific approach in using herbal medicine and has a passion for the logic of its principles and actions. After years of using herbs for medical problems, based on both traditional and modern scientific knowledge, she has no doubt as to their effectiveness and safety.

Materia Medica of Western Herbs, by Carole Fisher
Arising from my years of teaching herbal medicine it became apparent that a textbook of medicinal herbs was desperately needed and I co-authored Materia Medica of Western Herbs for the Southern Hemisphere with Gil Painter in 1996. This book became a standard text in all the major institutions teaching herbal medicine across Australia and New Zealand. It was updated in 2009 and is now entitled Materia Medica of Western Herbs and contains a fully referenced review of 180 medicinal herbs. The monograph for each herb includes information on any scientific research, clinical trials and interactions with drugs. Textbooks are available from calendula@xnet.co.nz
